Drinks Lists

Following feedback from previous attendees, for our 2024 Festival, we have chosen to offer a wider range of cask ales from around the UK.  This means that our LocAle choice is smaller than previously at the Festival and this is balanced by the range around the great real ale pubs of York.

Beer

Golden Anniversary Festival Beer   We are proud to offer a special 5% dry hopped golden ale to celebrate 50 years of York CAMRA beer festivals.

Aurum was brewed with Yorkshire Heart Brewery on 20 August. The York CAMRA team of Geoff Mumford, John Thompson and Steve Gorton were offered a blank canvas (i.e. make it up as you go along!) under the expert guidance of head brewer Nick Webster.

Maris Otter went into the mash tun and an hour or two later we had the pleasure of digging out around 500kg once the wort had transferred to the copper.  When up to temperature the initial hopping of Challenger, Mosaic and Citra was added – a hot, steamy process up a ladder.

Then time for lunch washed down with delicious Yorkshire Heart 1K IPA.

Five hours after we began, the fledgling beer was transferred to the fermenter and the yeast added.  Now wait a week and then dry hop with Simcoe and Yakima Chief “Cryo Pop”.   After conditioning we expect to taste a fruity golden ale with flavours of tropical, citrus and stone fruit amongst others.

To try some Aurum head for the cask bar on the right-hand side of the church near to the Membership stand and celebrate with York CAMRA a golden half century of beer festivals.

Cider and Perry
