Education and other events
New for this year we have a number of events happening in the Church Hall near the entrance to the Beer Festival. Where tickets are required, they are available on the day from the membership stand in the Church. Tickets are not available in advance.

Launch of a guide to selling low and no alcohol beverages in pubs.
Meet at the membership stand in the Church.

Beers from the wood tasting.
A unique opportunity to sample a selection of the beers presented in wooden casks at the festival alongside the same beer from bottles or cans. Hosted by York SPBW (The Society for The Preservation of Beers from the Wood) alongside head brewer and founder of Half Moon Brewery, Tony Rogers.
Duration: 1 hour.
Tickets: £6 available from the membership stand in the Church.

A history of stouts.
A history of malting and how that drove the evolution of styles covering porter, stout, modern stout and barrel aged stouts with samples throughout. Presented by Lee Grabham, founder of Brew York Brewery.
Duration: 1 hour.

Why beer tastes like that.
An overview on beer flavour and how the brewer shapes that in both brewing and recipe design. Presented by James Hodgson, Head Brewer at Great Newsome Brewery.
Duration: 45 minutes with 15 minutes for audience questions.
